Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Yorkshire Coast & Wolds Primary Care Network website at www.yorkscoastwoldspcn.nhs.uk.
Yorkshire Coast & Wolds Primary Care Network is committed to making its website accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities and those using assistive technologies.

We want people to be able to use this website in a way that works for them, whether they are using a keyboard, screen reader, magnification software, speech recognition software or other assistive technology.

Compliance status
This website has been designed and tested with the aim of meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.
Following accessibility testing, remediation and review of the published website, we consider the website to be compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
The site has also been assessed using third-party automated accessibility testing, which currently reports the website as accessible.
Automated testing is used alongside manual review because no automated accessibility checker can identify every possible accessibility issue.

Using the website
We have designed the website so that users should be able to:
- navigate the site using a keyboard
- move through links, menus and interactive controls in a logical order
- see where keyboard focus is positioned
- skip repeated navigation and move directly to the main page content
- zoom and enlarge text without losing access to important content
- use the website on different screen sizes and devices
- understand page headings and page structure
- identify the purpose of links from their wording
- access meaningful information where images are used
- use commonly available assistive technologies alongside the website

Keyboard access
The website has been reviewed for keyboard navigation so that essential content and functions can be reached without requiring a mouse.
A Skip to content facility is provided to allow keyboard users to move directly past repeated navigation to the main content of a page.
Keyboard focus has also been reviewed so that users can identify which link, control or interactive element currently has focus.

Images and alternative text
Meaningful images are provided with alternative text intended to describe their content or purpose.
Decorative images are treated so that they do not create unnecessary distraction for users of screen readers.
We continue to review new images as they are added to the website.

Headings and page structure
Pages are structured using headings intended to reflect the organisation of the content.
Page titles have been reviewed so that users and assistive technologies can distinguish one page from another.
Navigation, main content and supporting page areas are structured to help users understand and move around the website.
Responsive design and zoom
The website has been designed to respond to different screen sizes, including mobile phones and tablets.
Content has also been reviewed with text enlargement, zoom and reflow in mind so that users should not need to scroll unnecessarily in more than one direction to read ordinary page content.

Links
Links are written so that their purpose should generally be understandable from the link text and its surrounding context.
Broken links identified during testing have been corrected.
Where links lead to external websites or third-party services, the accessibility of those destinations may be outside our direct control.

Forms and interactive elements
Interactive elements are reviewed to help ensure they can be used with a keyboard and are presented in a logical order.
Where forms or external interactive services are used, we aim to ensure that labels, instructions and controls are clear and accessible.

Video and embedded content
Some pages may contain video or other embedded content.
We aim to ensure that embedded content does not prevent users from navigating or understanding the rest of the page.
Where content is supplied by a third party, some aspects of accessibility may depend on that provider.

Third-party content
Some pages may contain content or services supplied by third parties, including NHS resources, embedded videos, search tools, language services or external websites.
We aim to ensure that third-party material is accessible wherever we can. However, some aspects of externally provided services may be outside our direct control.
Where a third-party service causes an accessibility problem, we will consider whether an alternative approach can be provided.

Accessibility and additional software
The website has been designed and remediated so that accessibility does not depend upon an accessibility overlay or third-party accessibility widget.
Users may, of course, continue to use their own browser accessibility settings, operating-system settings or assistive technology according to their needs.

If you find an accessibility problem with this website, please tell us.
We welcome feedback from users, particularly people who use assistive technology or who encounter difficulties that may not have been identified through automated testing.

For public-sector accessibility matters, further information about enforcement and complaints is available through the appropriate government and equality bodies.

Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared in October 2026 following a programme of accessibility review and remediation covering the published Yorkshire Coast & Wolds Primary Care Network website.

Testing included:
- automated accessibility checks
- design-system site checks
- review of page titles and metadata
- keyboard navigation review
- focus behaviour review
- heading and structural review
- image alternative-text review
- broken-link and broken-image checks

The website will continue to be reviewed as pages, services and features are added or changed.

Ongoing review
Accessibility is an ongoing process rather than a one-off exercise.
New content and changes to the website will be reviewed with accessibility in mind, and further testing will be carried out where significant changes are made.
